I have been given the task of designing a flag for the first of the
Australian (ab)Originee tribes to restate their sovereign status on this
continent, the Githabul-Narakbul Tribe of northern NSW. I was given their banner
which they love as it includes the silhouette of two of their most sacred icons,
a couple of mountains prominent to their region, and includes the morning star,
also very important culturally but it had a graduated red to yellow sky
background which was outside the conventions associated with a flag, I believe
solid colours seem the norm if not an actual requirement.
The star is a
concern, they don't like the traditional star shape as used in the Australian
and many other flags (seemingly made of overlapping solid triangles) and like
what I have done here as it looks like the star is very far off/small as it is
in real life.

The flyward mountain looks like Wollumbin/Mt Warning, and I take it the other
would be Mt Lindesay.

The flag is based on a 'banner' sent to Bruce Blake. The 'banner' itself had
a rising sun in graduated rather than solid colours, and is
described as a
flag of sovereignty on page 15 of the December 2009 The Nimbin GoodTimes
(PDF
www.nimbingoodtimes.com/archive/pages09/0912/NGT-1209-14-19.pdf. This
article reports the flag being unfurled at Broadwater in late November (2009).
The solid colour version is called the tribal flag on a (fairly inactive)
