The symbols of Cazin were adopted on 25 July 2005 by the Municipal Assembly (municipal website). The design by Danijel Obajdin, from Bihać, was selected among eight proposals submitted in a public contest.
The symbols are described in the Municipal Statutes Statut Općine Cazin (
text), adopted on 22 December 2010 by the Municipal Assembly and published on 31 December 2010 in the Municipal official gazette Službeni novine Općine Cazin.

The flag is horizontally divided green-blue-white, with the green field is "over half of the flag's width" in height, and with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms of is "Vert a fort with two towers in dexter and a mosque with minaret in sinister argent and in base wavy azure a filet wavy argent over a fleur-de-lis or within a ring of ten mullets of five argent".
The towers represent the remains of medieval forts, the old mosque in the town, the wavy lines symbolize rivers Una and Korana, the fleur-de-lis stands for the Bosnian statehood and the ten stars indicate the affiliation to the Federation and the European unity goals.

The Populari database does not list any municipal symbol that would have been used prior to the 1990s or during the war period. The constitutionality of the current symbol was not disputed.
