This flag was used back in the 1970s, when the Queen knighted
the West Indies cricketer Gary Sobers in 1975. There are plans
afoot to hold a referendum on becoming a republic, so the flag
would become obsolete, like that in Trinidad and Tobago, in the
event of a change of status.

Barbados has announced that it will drop Queen Elizabeth 2 as the head of
state next year, and will become a republic.

On the 28th of November 2021, Barbados became a republic and the flag of the
Queen in Barbados became obsolete.
