The town name means both "good start" (or "good beginning") as well as "good principle", which must relate to the founding of the town. It has a ~5:7 green flag with the bottom quarter (limited by two half diagonals) in a darker shade of green; over all a white disc (diam. about 4/7 of the flag's height) with the full municipal arms on it.

The arms show on a samnitic shield a stylized landscape with a range of green
mountains against a white sky before a light green plain; issuant from the
base a yellow open book seen in perspective and extending to the end of the
plain, on it a scythe with black handle and white blade; on the center a
yellow church with white doors and windows, its coinciding with the upper
edge of the book. A yellow mural crown with four visible (sort of) towers;
a diminutive red rooster for crest. Shield decorated with two branches crossed
at the base; red scroll reading in black sans serif capitals "12.05 BOM
RINCÍPIO 1982", referring to the founding date (?), May 12th, 1982.
