The municipality

Pont-Rouge (Red Bridge) is named for a bridge built in 1822 and painted in red in 1838. The building of the bridge was funded by the inhabitants of the region as an alternative to the Royal bridge, subsequently Dery bridge, built on 1804 as the first toll bridge in Québec.
The name of Pont-Rouge is first documented in a letter written on 22 August 1867 by His Grace Charles-François Baillargeon, administrator of the Quebec Diocese. The post-office, established in 1856, and the Canadian Pacific railway station, established on 1876, were also named Pont-Rouge.

I found the logo on the town's Facebook page and pasted it on a white background.

The stone block in the background represents the geophysical and administrative firmness of the new town. The rectangular shape emphasizes the idea of force. The town's name, "sitting" on the stone block, demonstrates the stability of the new entity.
In the foreground, the stylized "P" and "R" also represent the merging of the two former municipalities on the same firm base. Together, the letters reproduce the movement of the waves of the river that goes through the town and gives it identity and dynamism.

The wine red color was selected as coherent with the name Pont-Rouge. Golden yellow represents the municipality's rich culture and the numerous athletes living there. Black is associated with the rock and the economic stability of the new entity.

The motto reading "Moving to the Future" highlights the constant transformation of the new municipality that establishes firm bases today to be even stronger tomorrow. Movement is also a reference to the river and its rapids, present everywhere in the municipality. It also highlights sport, always enforced in Pont-Rouge.

The whole logo has a young and balanced aspect. Movement demonstrates decided action to build a place of good living. Pont-Rouge is a fully-expanding town, which has to be demonstrated by its image.
