Azure two Bars wavy Or.
Željko Heimer, 21 December 2000
Could Goldach be a corruption of Goldbach – the golden brook, and the flag canting?
Ivan Sache, 20 December 2000
No, these arms are the ones of the lords of Sulzberg, service men of the convent of Allgäu and the
bishop's house of Konstanz. They date back to the 15th century and were adopted by the municipality
in 1915.
Pascal Gross, 21 December 2000
[The castle of Sulzberg lies nearby Goldach, so the lords of Sulzberg obviously made their arms canting after the Goldach brook, which flows into the Lake of Constance in Goldach, which got its name from the brook. Ivan is correct with his assumption that Ach is the same as Bach, Ach being the older word.]
