The communes of Rovray and Arrissoules merged on 01.01.2005. The new coat of
arms has retained symbols from the former entities adding an arch to
symbolise the motorway tunnel built not long time before on the former
commune of Arrissoules that gave its name to the tunnel. The French
blazoning reads as follows:

A tricky canting flag! The probable link is to be found with the acorns.
French toponyms like Rouvray or Grosrouvre originate from "rouvre"
(popular Latin "roborem") designating a species of oak (chêne rouvre
- Quercus petrae).
