Shield quartered of Argent and Azure, 1st quarter charged with a beech leaf Gules in bend, 2nd quarter charged with three beechnuts Or with stems, 3rd quarter charged with a reversed beech leaf Or in bend sinister, 4th 1st quarter charged with a reversed beech leaf Gules in bend, base Argent charged with a lion passant guardant Sable, armed Argent and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The three beechnuts and beech leaves are canting (German: Buche). Their number is representing the former municipalities of Buch proper, Hagenau and Gastenfelden. The lion is taken from the arms of the Princes of Hohenlohe, local rulers in the Medieval. In the 14th century parts of their dominions were acquired by the Burgraves of Nürnberg, represented by the quartered shield of white and black.
