Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a green, rooted beech tree. The stem is superimposed by a black attire.
Meaning:
Waldenbuch gained city rights by the Counts of Hohenberg and was first mentioned as a city in 1363. The oldest known seal from the 15th century and displays a branch of beech (German: Buche) beneath an attire. The beech is a canting element. The attire is symbolizing the Counts of Württemberg, the former rulers. Later seals all showed the same pattern in the 17th century. The new seals displayed a shield with the above arms. The current pattern was first used in paintings in 1584/1588 with the beech standing on the base. In 1604 there had also been a version without attire.
