The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a geen over white over green horizontal triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the central stripe.

Description of banner:
It is a green - white - green vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the central stripe shifted to the top.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is quarterly divided. The 1st and 4th quarter are showing two black, indented lines in a silver (=white) field. The 2nd quarter shows a silver (=white) bendy tool, used by weavers, in a green field, the 3rd quarter a silver (=white) plough share in a green field.
Meaning:
According to source According to source the tool is symbolizing textile industries, the plough share agriculture. The indented lines in the other quarters are taken from the arms of the family of von Rhede.

Flag and banner were approved by Regierungspräsident Münster on 24 September 1975, and the coat of arms on 26 September 1968 by minister of interior of Northrhine-Westphalia.
