Flag adopted 1987

Eisenhüttenstadt is a city of slightly less than 50,000 inhabitants in Oder-Spree County. Its history is somewhat special. It was founded in 1951 as a settlement for the workers of a newly created steel plant. It was named Stalinstadt in 1953 and Eisenhüttenstadt in 1961, the name refering to the factory ('iron hut city'). The flag is yellow with a green bordure and golden fringes with the symbols of the arms. These show a stylised peace dove, a tall housing building and a metallurgic plant. It was adopted in 1987. My humble proposal for a better flag of Eisenhüttenstadt would be a banner of arms made up of simply a field of vair, since the German for vair is Eisenhütfeh (cf. François Velde's Heraldica website).
