Meaning:
The oldest seals from 1350 and 1554 already displayed a rider with the attributes of a prince. Later sources denote him as Emperor Heinrich II, the patron saint of the Bishopric of Bamberg. Since the 18th century the rider is displayed in a shield. The tinctures are known from the role of Bamberg's vassals (1603). Direction of the rider and tinctures changed various times.
