Shield Argent, issuant from base a triplemount Vert, on both side peaks an embattled tower Gules masoned Sable, in between an inescutcheon Gules in bend, charged with a lion rampant double queued Argent, on its top a helmet Or, crested with a wing Sable semy of linden leaves Or.
Meaning:
Lower Lusatia had been a possession of the Kingdom of Bohemia from 1350 until 1635. Inescutcheon and helmet are the royal Bohemian arms. The towers are stressing the city rank, the triplemount is alluding to the local hillside. The pattern can already be found on the oldest city seal from the 14th century. The colours changed frequently. The colours green, white and red were introduced in 1835. The towers had not been masoned in the version introduced in 1932 by the Heroldsamt of Berlin. Probably after 1990 the shape of the shield became triangular embowed.
