Tapfheim Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above parted per pale, at dexter Or a unicorn's head Azure tongued Gules, at sinister Azure an initial "K" Or; beneath Argent a saltire Gules, on its centre a disc Or fimbriated Gules, charged with a patriarchal cross Gules.
Meaning:
The initial is taken from the arms of the Imperial Kaisheim Abbey, an important manorial lord from 1269 until 1803. The existence of a unicorn's head on the court seals of Tapfheim is proven since the 16th century. The tinctures red and white are those of the Bishopric of Augsburg and of the Abbey of St. Ulrich and St. Afra in Augsburg. Both owned large estates in the area. The saltire is a differentiation of the family arms of the Counts of Oettingen, who also owned estates in several former villages. The patriarchal cross is alluding to the Convent of the Holy Cross in Donauwörth, which owned estates in Donaumünster Village since 1365.
