Shield Azure, a Roman's head Or with a wreath of laurel Vert in his hair.
Meaning:
Riegel is a very old settlement and exists more than 1250 years. The name might be derived from "regulus", i.e. a little king. The current pattern of the arms was depicted already in the oldest known local court seal from 1531, sometimes placed on a shield. A dade from 1591 describes the pattern as a "pagan's head". The Roman past of the village was discovered in the 19th century due to archeological excavation finds. Those finds revived the legend of a pagan city, ruled by a regulus. His half length portrait is said to be the charge of the local arms.
