Nußloch Coat of Arms

Shield Argent; issuant from an inescutcheon in base, lozengy of Argent and Azure, an eradicated walnut tree Vert with stem Sable.
Meaning:
Palatine Count Ludwig II of Wittelsbach acquired the 1st half of Nußloch in 1259 from the Lords of Lichtenau and the other half in 1269 from the Lords of Weinsberg. The municipality remained a dominion of the Palatine Electorate until 1802. The current arms are based on the first court seal with prints since 1498. The lozengy inescutcheon displays the arms of the Wittelsbach kin. The tree (blazon doesn't mention the kind of nut (German: Nuss)) is a canting element. Otto Hupp painted a different coat of arms based on the seal from 1616. It displayed a green tree with golden nuts, the stem surmounted by the inescutcheon.
