See also:Jerichower Land is a county (Kreis) in the north-east of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. In 1994 the two counties of Burg and Genthin merged, and re-adopted the historical name of Jerichow, well "Jerichower Land". On 1 July 2007 six municipalities (Hobeck, Lohburg, Lübs, Prödel, Rosian and Schweinitz) from the former county of Anhalt-Zerbst were added to Jerichower Land. The name of the county is derived from the city of Jerichow, the name of which is related to that of an early Slavic tribal grouping - it is not related to the name of the city of Jericho (Westbank, Palestine).
The symbols of the former namesake county, approved on 12 September 1995 (arms), were kept and re-adopted on 20 August 2007 by the county council and described by the local Hauptsatzung.

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Azure a pale Argent; at sinister Argent a crane Sable, garnished Argent and armed Gules [editorial note: crane is in vigilant posture but without stone]
Meaning:
The vertical bars in the dexter half of the coat of arms are symbolising the Elbe-Havel canal, while the crane in the sinister is symbolising the natural environment of the county. Cranes are common birds in the countryside.
