SG Ilmenau Flag

The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a light blue (FIAV-code B-) flag with two horizontal yellow stripes. The ratio between the flags segments is 1:1:4:1:1 (measured by myself in Melbeck municipal hall), where I found an image of the flag. In the centre of the bigger blue segment is the coat of arms of the municipality.

SG Ilmenau Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess enhanced; above Azure a lion passant Or; beneath Or parted by a bend sinister wavy Azure, charged with a bendlet sinister wavy Argent, four hearts Gules, three of them above the bend sinister and one bneath.
Meaning:
The lion is that one of the Welfen-dynasty, whose most famous duke was Heinrich the Lion, Duke of Saxony and Bavaria. The bend wavy is symbolizing the Ilmenau creek, name giver of the comprehensive municipality. The hearts are symbols of the municipalities of Ilmenau, located on both sides of the creek, they are Barnstedt,
Deutsch Evern, Embsen and Melbeck. The hearts are also symbolising that Ilmenau belongs to Lüneburg County.

Deutsch Evern Municipality

The ratio of the flag is 3:5. It is a blue flag with horizontal white stripes. The edges are blue. The ratio between the stripes is approx. 2:2:9:2:2. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.
The pattern was sent to Hauptstaatsarchiv Hannover for approval on 2 January 1986.

Deutsch Evern Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a boar's head Sable armed Argent and tongued Gules, in chief three hearts Gules in fess over a bar wavy Azure.
Meaning:
The hearts are taken from the coat of arms of the Dukes of Lüneburg. They are symbolising the fact that the municipality belongs to
Lüneburg County. The wavy line is symbolising the Ilmenau creek, name giver of the comprehensive municipality. The boar's (German: Eber) head is a canting element.

It is a green over yellow horizontal bicolour with centred arms. The flag probably was never approved officially.

Embsen Coat of Arms

Shield Or parted by a pall wavy Azure, at dexter a belfry Vert, at sinister a fir Vert, in base plain.
Meaning:
The pall wavy is representing the confluence of a few creeks in the municipality (Barnstedt-Milbecker Bach, Billerbeck and Glindenbach). The belfry is the wooden belfry of the local church, dedicated to St. Catherine. The fir tree is representing the local landscape.

Melbeck Coat of Arms

Shield Or, parted by a bend wavy Azure, charged with a bendlet wavy Argent, in sinister chief three bulrushes Sable, in dexter base a watermill's wheel Sable.
Meaning:
Bend and bendlet wavy are representing Ilmenau River and local creeks. Melbeck was first mentioned in 1265 on a deed of Lüneburgian St. Michael monastery. It testified that Knight Huner of Oedeme sold a watermill, represented by its wheel, to the miller Friedrich of Melbeke, member of a patrician family in Lüneburg, which had become name giver of the municipality. The bulrushes are symbolising the local marshes.
Melbeck is seat of Ilmenau Comprehensive Municipality
