Meaning:
Röthenbach had been a possession of the Cistercian Mehrerau Abbey since the end of the 11th century. The village was ruled by the Counts of Montfort in the 14th and 15th century. They also had the local high level cognisance. The upper half displays the arms of the abbey, the lower half those of the counts.
