NiedersÀchsisches StÀdtebuch says that the flag of Norden is blue with three golden spur wheels placed 2,1, "probably since the 16th century, provably since 1735". Stadler gives the same description for Norden's flag. Norden is nowadays a town in the county of Aurich.
A banner of the arms. From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website: The spurs (SporenrÀder) are derived from the arms of the Idzinga family. This family had much influence in the city, but it is not known when the city adopted the spurs.
