Shield Or, a lion rampant double-queued, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The arms are those of the Margraves of Meißen, who gained the fiefdom over the city from the Bishop of Naumburg in the 13th century.

Tettau Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a chapé Or, charged with two bars wavy Azure in base and a tear drop in chief.
Meaning:
The tear drop (gutté de larmes) is a blue drop and here representing water and not tears. The whole ensemble is referring to the importance of local water economics. The tinctures are those of Upper Lusatia.
