Neustadt im Odenwald Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale into Azure and Gules by a sword Argent hilted Or, at dexter a heraldic rose Argent seeded Gules, at sinister a facetted 6-point star Argent.
Meaning:
The arms display a star taken from the arms of the Counts of Erbach, and the rose taken from the arms of the Counts and Princes of Löwenstein-Wertheim. The two families ruled the town and local castle together until 1806. The oldest seal of the town from 1600 displays three roses and three stars. The sword is a symbol for the local court, which operated for many centuries. Neustadt gained city rights in 1953.
The arms were approved in 1927.
