Though the roll of arms claimes an off-centred coat of arms, the version I spotted showed centred arms with silver realized as a light grey shade.
Source: I spotted this flag on 2 July 2007 at "Am Lübschen Tor" in Plön.

Plön County was established in 1867. The subcounty (Amt) and the city of Plön were connected with the city of Lütjenburg, the monasterial district of Preetz, the village of Karköhl, which had belonged to the Hansa City of Lübeck, and 35 manors. The municipalities of Gaarden (1901) and Ellerbek (1910) were ceded to Kiel. In 1932 a big part of the dissolved county of Bordesholm was incorporated. The county had no proper coat of arms until WW2. In 1948 (acc. to Roll of Arms) a coat of arms was adopted, what acc. to Stadler happened on 21 December 1955. Since 1140 Plön was an important stronghold of the county of Schauenburg. From 1290 until 1390 Plön had been the residence of the Plön branch of the counts of Schauenburg-Holstein, and from 1623 until 1761 the residence of a branch of the dukes of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg.
