The municipality flags are shown mostly in banner form in Hesse.
Jörg Majewski,
Shield gyronny of six of Argent and Gules, charged with six leaves of apple tree in counterchanged colours and connected in centre.
Meaning:
The number of leaves (and gyrons) is symbolising the six former municipalities of Hohenroda: Mansbach, Oberbreitzbach, Soislieden, Ransbach, Glaam and Ausbach. They are also referring to "Ausbacher Rotapfel", a local kind of apple, named after Ausbach village and frequently growing in local meadows. The Lords of Mansbach had a shield gyronny of Argent and Gules as their family arms. The colours red and white are those of the Electorate of Hesse, the Lords of Mansbach and the former municipality of Ransbach.
