Shield Azure the side face of a woman’s head Argent, mantle Argent, at dexter charged with a fleur-de-lis Azure, at sinister with a 6-point star of the same.
Meaning:
The head was modelled by a personal seal of Palatine Countess Heilika from 1166. It is reminding on the fact that Heilika had been the sole heiress of the Counts of Hopfenohe-Lengenfeld-Pettendorf. Their county had been an important element of the extension of the rule of the Wittelsbach kin. Heilika had been the mother of Duke Otto I of Bayern, who died in 1183 and had thus been the progenitor of the Bavarian dukes. Fleur-de-lis and star are attributes of St. Mary and are alluding to the Dominican Adlersberg Nunnery and the nearby pilgrimage church of Mariaort at the mouth of the Naab River. The tinctures are those of the Wittelsbach kin.
