In a blue field is a golden (= yellow) sailing ship with one mast. In the golden (=yellow) chief is a blue fisher's tool flanked by two leaves of linden tree having the same colour.
Meaning:
Arnis gained city rights in 1934. Having just 350 inhabitants Arnis is Germany's smallest city. The ship is the yacht DIE DREI GESCHWISTER (= the three sisters), built here in 1835. She is symbolizing the local ship building tradition, which bloomed in the 18th and 19th century. The tool is a special needle in order to repair the fishermens' nets. It is symbolizing fishery. The leaves are symbolizing a significant alleyway. The colours are symbolizing Schlei Firth and sandy beaches, but they are also the colours of the Duchy of Schleswig.
