Shield Argent chapé embowed Azure, in base four stepped gables Gules in cross, in dexter chief a hound rampant Argent, in sinister chief an embowed arm issuant Argent holding an arrow of the same in bend sinister and pointing downwards.
Meaning:
The hound (German: (Wind)hund)is the heraldic animal of the Premonstratensian Windberg Monastery, an important manorial lord. It is furthermore a canting element. The arm had been part of the former municipal arms of Steinburg and is taken from the family arms of the Schuß family of Peilnstein, who ruled the Steinburg district (Bavarian: Hofmark) from 1710 until 1807. The cross in base displays the arms of the Lords of Steinberg. They enlarged their possessions in the 12th century by forest clearance. They died out in 1414. The cross later became part of the municipal arms of Gaishausen, which also belonged to the Steinburg district.
