Shield parted per pale; at dexter Gules a demi-eagle Argent armed Or and couped per pale; at sinister Sable a rosette Or; base Argent a fess Sable charged with three initials "P" Argent in fess.
Meaning:
Eagle and rosette are referring to the rule of the Benedictine Ottobeuren Imperial Abbey. According to the Ottobeuren Chronicle from 1180 the village was a possession of that abbey since 764. The abbey also gained the high level cognisance in 1748. The black fess with initials is referring to the Vöhlin family, patricians from Memmingen. The family owned the village between 1503 and 1594. The family gained its wealth by trade with the Far East. The initials are the abbreviation of: "Piper Peperit Pecuniam, Pecunia Peperit Pompam, Pompa Peperit Pauperiem, Pauperies Peperit Pietatem.", translated: "Pepper makes money, money makes pomp, pomp makes poor, poverty makes pious."
