Shield parted per fess, above parted per pale, at dexter Or two bars Gules, at sinister Gules three chevrons Argent, beneath Gules three wolf-hooks Argent ordered 2:1.
Meaning:
The first quarter shows the old arms of Oldenburg, as the most of the area historically belonged to Oldenburg. The second quarter shows the arms of the Counts of Calvelage, later Counts of Ravensberg, in counterchanged tinctures. They sold their possessions in the Southern part of the county to the Bishopric of Münster in 1252. The base shows three so-called wolf-hooks from the arms of the Counts of Galen, who, as vassals of the bishops, held several estates in the county. The flag colours are those of Oldenburg and the bishopric as well.
