Meaning:
In 1950 the towns of Ribnitz (Mecklenburg) and Damgarten (Vorpommern) had been forced to merge by the communist government, which broke the resistance of the locals and the local authorities in order to extinct old historical roots. As there had been no historical arms of the city, a new coat of arms was created by Frank Rose, a citizen of Ribnitz-Damgarten. According to source the bust shows Jaromir II,Pprince of Rügen and founder of Damgarten. The giffin is symbolising the Lordship of Rostock, a historical subdivision of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, to which Ribnitz belonged.
