It is a white-red vertical bicolour with centred arms. According to the Hauptsatzung,both a flag and a banner exist.

Wartburg County Coat of Arms

Shield quartered, 1st quarter Azure a sinister facing lion rampant barry of eight of Gules and Argent crowned Or, 2nd quarter Or a hen statant Sable armed Gules on top of a triplemount issuant Vert, 3rd quarter Argent parted by a cross Sable, 4th quarter a lion rampant barry of eight of Gules and Argent crowned Or.
Meaning:
The county is named after the famous Wartburg Castle,which is well-known because Martin Luther was hidden there from persecution in 1521.The arms combine elements from the arms of the territories to which the county historically belonged: the lion of the Margraves of Thüringen in the first quarter, there differentiated, and in the fourth quarter, in the second quarter the canting arms, hen on mountain, of the Counts of Henneberg, and in the third quarter the black cross of the Imperial Abbey and later Bishopric of Fulda.
