It is a white flag divided by a blue saltire. There are black inscriptions "H" (top), "R" (hoist), "C" (fly) and "1880" (bottom). The centre of the saltire is a yellow diamond containing a light green clover leaf. The diamond is a modification of the inescutcheon of the city of Hannover and was used there since 15th century.

The current flag (see left image above) is blue with two horizontal red stripes and a white 6-point star in the centre of the flag. The canton is white with red capital letters "RVL" over a red "1911". The first (see right image above) flag was a square flag parted by a saltire, blue in upper fly and lower hoist, red in lower fly and upper hoist and white in centre, flanked by golden-yellow initials "R" (hoist), "V" (top) and "L" (fly)
