Special thanks to Heide Fiehring, member of the board of club, who gave additional information.
Description of blade:
The blade is vertically divided into blue (shaft) and red (baseboard). A white 5-point star is placed upon the right half of the red part. The blade pattern is repeating basic elements of the club's flag.

According to Mrs. Fiehring Berliner Ruderclub “Welle” was established on 12 March 1894.
Description of flag:
It was a blue flag with a white centred cross and a red roundel with a white 5-point star in its centre. It is the novadays flag without canton.

As Rudersportalmanach 2004 is saying, that the “nowadays” club was established on 1 January 1894, I have to conclude that this was the date of establishment of Berliner Ruder-Club “Poseidon”. There does no longer exist a Poseidon-flag, but Mrs. Fiehring believes that the canton of the current flag was the flag of former rowing-club “Poseidon” .
Description of flag:
It was a white flag divided by a blue cotized stripe per bend sinister. There was a blue 6-point star in the lower fly.

Poseidon joined “Welle” on 30 November 1906. The club changed its name to Berliner Ruder-Club “Welle Poseidon” e.V. and used since 1935 the current flag. A blue “WP” was added in the cantons upper hoist.
On 4 April 1929 the BRC “Sport-Möwe” joined the club. This club was assimilated without any trace neither in name nor flag.
Description of flag:
It was a white flag with a dark blue Scandinavian cotized cross. The crossbars point of intersection was superimposed by a white diamond, superimposed by another one with a dark-blue cotized edge. Within the 2nd diamond there were dark blue letters “Sp” over “M”.

In 1935 the jewish members of the club should be expelled. The christian members however performed an act of solidarity and left the club themselves completely, being aware of the fact, that they could continue rowing in any club but their jewish comrades in none. So only the jewish members and one coach remained until the club was dissolved by German government in 1937. Since 1935 the remaining members gave the club the name Jüdischer Ruder-Club“Welle-Poseidon”.
Description of flag:
From 1935 to 1937 a flag with a pencil inscription “JRC” upon the horizontal crossbar on the hoist side was used. For it should not provoke others, the inscription was very inconspicuous.

The club was re-established after WW2 and used since then the current flag. Klaus-Michael Schneider, 23 February 2008
