According to <www.cuencadeljubones.gov.ec>,
Pasaje flag is a
yellow-red-yellow horizontal triband and charged with the coat of
arms. At <www.mipasaje.com>
there is a plain flag.
Dov Gutterman, 14 September 2007
The image on is something like a 1:2 triband of a pale yellow
over a dark red.
We do, however, have the description: "The flag is three
horizontal stripes, the upper and the lower yellow and the middle
red."
The description of the flag doesn't mention The design of with
the arms at all.
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 3 October 2008
The canton of Pasaje was formed on 1 November 1894. The place
is named after the nickname of the Royal Road ("Camino
Real"), the Passage ("Pasaje"). Marshal Antonio
José de Sucre once said there "Oh! éste es Pasaje de las
Nieves!" (This is the Passage of the Snows).
Translated from <www.mipasaje.com>:
"The flag is made of three horizontal stripes, yellow on top
and bottom and red in the middle.
Yellow represents the resources provided by ripe fruits, while
red represents the ardent blood flowing into the veins of its
sons with fervor and love for the homeland."
The coat of arms, seemingly used sometimes on the flag, is
described as follows (same source as for the flag):
On a rectangular shield ending in point, two quarters of equal
size. The dexter quarter or with a local landscape showing the
northeaster mountains and river Jubones running towards the sea
in the middle of a plain among crops of cocoa, coffee and
bananas. The river is the main issue for the farmers, being both
a source of life and a cause of destruction. The sinister quarter
purple with a cornucopia filled with the products of the very
fertile soil: cocoa, coffee, bananas, sugarcane, oranges and
melons. Above the shield a white scroll inscribed with
"CANTON PASAJE". Below the shield [not shown on the
image, I.S], the date of foundation of the canton, "1° de
Noviembre de 1894".
