Ḥilwān was formed as a split off ʾAl-Qāhirah (Cairo)
Area: 2895.77 sq.mi. (= 7500 km²)
Capital: Ḥilwān City
Variant Spellings: Heluan, Helwan, Hulwan, Holwan

Established: April 18, 2008 on the basis of presidential decree 114/2008 formed from the southern part of the al-Qahira governorate, dissolved again by the prime minister on April 14, 2011 and reorganized into the al-Qahira governorate
Location: southern part of the Governorate el-Qahira
Capital: Ain Helwan

The Flag

Aspect ratio of the flag: 2: 3
The white flag and coat of arms show a symbolism that characterizes Helwan as an industrial location (half cogwheel) and several world-famous gardens (indicated green stalks). To what extent the symbols will be continued after the dissolution of the governorate of the city of Helwan in the governorate of al-Qahira is not known.
