This is a Colour belonging to a Spanish unit that saw combat in Mexico. Its precise origin is unknown. Its size is 1.45 m × 1.50 m and it shows decorations: hanging from a ribbon, the Commander Cross of the Real Orden Americana de Isabel la Católica and in the centre the Escudo de distinción a los defensores del Altar y de los leales al Trono y a la Soberanía del Rey (lit. distinctive shield of the Altar's defenders and those loyal to the Throne and to the King's Sovereignty). Since both decorations were created in 1815 and 1823, the flag must date from after 1823. The cross is of a rather large size, typical in most of Colours made in America.
