The municipality of Albox (10,409 inhabitants in 2013; 16,842 ha; municipal website) is located in the valley of river Almanzora, 120 km north-east of Almería.

Symbols of Albox

The flag of Albox, adopted on 7 May 1998 by the Municipal Council and validated on 29 October 1998 by the Royal Academy of Cordóba, is prescribed by Decree No. 262, adopted on 15 December 1998 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 12 January 1999 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 5, p. 427 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, one and a half time longer (from hoist to fly) than high, diagonally divided per base, celestial blue in the upper part and white in the lower part. In the middle is placed the local coat of arms.

The coat of arms of Albox is prescribed by Royal Decree No. 2,536, adopted on 21 September 1979 and published on 5 November 1979 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 263, p. 25,704 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The coat of arms, approved by the Royal Academy of History, is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Or three rocks proper ensigned by three nettles vert in base waves argent and azure. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The coat of arms is made of the arms of the Fajardo family.
