Klaus-Michael Schneider, 23 October 2012The flag of Turre, adopted on 8 August 1990 by the Municipal Council and validated on 14 June 1991 by the Royal Academy of History, is prescribed by Decree No. 190, adopted on 15 October 1991 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 3 December 1991 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 106, p. 9,725 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular panel in proportions 2:3, divided in three equal parts, the outer blue and the central green, charged with a sun with 16 wavy rays.
The coat of arms of Turre, adopted on 25 February 1988 by the Municipal Council and revised on 19 November 1988, as suggested on 26 July 1988 by the Royal Academy of History, is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 7 February 1989 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 3 March 1989 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 17, p. 716 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The arms are described as follows:
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1a. Vert a tower argent on waves argent and azure, 1b. Azure a sun or, 2. Vert a spike or ensigned with a key argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
The medieval tower [torre], no longer standing, is a reference to the toponym's origin. The waves represent river Aguas. The sun and the blue sky alludes to the benignity of the climate. The spike is a reference to traditional cereal cultivation. The key, also featured on the coat of arms of Mojácar and Vera, recalls the historical link of Turre with these two municipalities.
