Presentation of Vélez-Blanco

The municipality of Vélez-Blanco (2,066 inhabitants in 2013; 44,100 ha; municipal website) is located 170 km north of Almería.
Vélez-Blanco has kept a castle from the 16th century and the Sign's Cave (Cueva de los Letreros), famous for the Indalo Neolithic painting, representing a human figure with widespread arms and a rainbow. The Indalo, now an unofficial symbol of the Province of Almería, is considered as a symbol of wealth and happiness.
