The municipality of Puebla de la Reina (741 inhabitants in 2019; municipal website) is located 100 km south-east of Badajoz and 30 km north-east of Villafranca de los Barros.
Puebla de la Reina (The Queen's Village) was originally known as Puebla de la Jara (The Rockrose's Village). Queen Isabel the Catholic rewarded the villagers' hospitality during her visit by separating the village from Hornachos and renaming it after herself.

The flag and arms of Puebla de la Reina, adopted on 29 September 1998 by the Municipal Council and validated on 16 November 1999 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 15 May 2000 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 25 May 2000 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 60, pp. 5,190-5,191 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Composed of a red cross throughout cantonned in white in the hoist's upper canton and fly's upper canton, the two other cantons, yellow.
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. Gules a town or surmounted by a Royal crown open of the same, 2. Argent a Cross of Saint James gules. Grafted in base, Or a bush of rockrose vert. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
The first quarter forms a rebus of the town's name, while the base recalls its original name.
