The municipality of Valdehüncar (175 inhabitants in 2019 vs. 717 in 1950; 2,560 ha) is located 120 km north-east of Cáceres and 10 km south of Navalmoral de la Mata.

Flag of Valdehüncar

The flag of Valdehüncar (photo), adopted on 14 August 2000 by the Municipal Council and validated on 31 May 2001 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, is prescribed by an Order issued on 18 June 2001 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 2 August 2001 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 89, p. 8,668 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3. Composed of a panel with 24 square, 12 blue and 12 white. Charged in the center, on a white square covering four squares with the coat of arms of Valdehüncar.

The coat of arms of Valdehüncar, adopted on 12 February 2000 by the Municipal Council and validated on 1 June 2000 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, is prescribed by an Order issued on 29 June 2000 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 11 July 2000 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 80, p. 7,237 (text).

Coat of arms: Argent a bush of rushes vert fructed or in base three waves azure and argent in chief five [indeed ten] squares azure and argent.

The reeds and the waves make the arms canting, recalling the former name of the place, Valdejuncar (Reed Valley).
The chief features the arms of the Dukes of Alba, who succeeded the Counts of Oropesa and the Marquesses of Villena as lords of Valdehüncar.
