The coat of arms of the Province of Valladolid is presented on the provincial website as follows:
Gules five gyrons wavy or issuant from dexter, a bordure argent eight castles or (violating the laws of heraldry).
The shield surmounted with a Royal crown open.
The shield supported by two lions proper langued gules.
The shield placed on a parchment over the Laurel Cross of San Fernando.
The shield surrounded by a scroll with the colors of the Spanish flag charged with eight escutcheons representing the Judicial Districts (partidos judiciales).
The exact origin of the Laurel Cross of San Fernando on the arms of the Province is unknown. The Cross was granted on 18 July 1939 to the town of Valladolid, but the relevant Decree does not extend the grant of the Cross to the Province (Andoni Esparaza, La Cruz de Valladolid, Emblemata, 14, 489-497, 2008).
