Both images by António Martins-Tuválkin,
Main character Sarah visits a frozen city where the symbol "E" is used averywhere, in normal letter shape in cap and shoulder badges armbands and other emblems, and stylized in flags.
It's a light background (white or light grey in the b/w original — perhaps supposed to be red?) with white square and on it (in Nazi style) black tile-style "E". This flag shows as both as a vertical variant hanging from the wall, and as a normal flag hoisted on a pole. The respective specs seems to be 12+1+5+1+12 : 5+1+1+4+1+5 (vertical flag) and 2+1+5+1+2 : 5+1+1+4+1+5 (normal flag).
In the latter variant, the "E" faces the pole by it's three pointed side, thus unreadable if the flag is shown in the usual way, with the hoist at the viewer's left hand. For some reason, all images in the book show the flag with the hoist at the viewer's right hand. It's possible to speculate about the reason for this, and also about the reverse whether mirrored or not.
