Flag of SCA - Image by Ivan Sache, 5 June 2019
Sporting Club Anduzien (SCA; website) is an amateur football club located in Anduze. The club was established on 31 October 1940 by Jacques Valmalle, as Union Sportive Anduzienne, resulting of the merger of
Anduze Stade (est. on 1 October 1910 by Paul Roux) and Sporting Club
Anduzien (est. on 11 October 1930 by Maurice Bénézet).
Re-established after the liberation as Sporting Club Anduzien, the club
was renamed to Saint Sébastien Anduze Club (for the mines of
Saint-Sébastien d'Aigrefeuille, owned by the club's sponsor of the time,
Pennaroya) in 1959. In the aftermath of the closure of the mines in
1963, the original Sporting Club Anduzien was re-established by
Jean-Louis Maurin.
On 3 December 2007, SCA (7th league) lost (1-3) the 8th round of the
French Cup against its powerful neighbor, Nîmes Olympique (2nd league).
The Mayor of Anduze compared the match to "a centennial flood, an event
that happens only once in one's life". More than 3,000, that is nearly
the population of Anduze, attended the match in Alès.
The flag of SCA is vertically divided red-white with the letters "SCA"
in the center, "S" and the part of the "C3 on the red stripe, in
golden-yellow, the part of the "C" in the white stripe and the "A", red.
