The municipality of Petit-Caux (9,553 inhabitants in 2017;
9,111 ha) was established on 1 January 2016 by merger of the 18
former municipalities of Saint-Martin-en-Campagne (seat), Assigny, Auquemesnil,
Belleville-sur-Mer, Berneval-le-Grand, Biville-sur-Mer, Bracquemont,
Brunville, Derchigny, Glicourt, Gouchaupre, Greny, Guilmécourt, Intraville,
Penly, Saint-Quentin-au-Bosc, Tocqueville-sur-Eu, and Tourville-la-Chapelle, which composed the Communauté de communes of Petit Caux.
Petit-Caux is in fact the name of the coastal region of the Pays de Caux
located between Dieppe and Le Tréport.
The history of the former intermunicipal authority of Petit-Caux is closely linked to the establishment of the nuclear power plant of Penly. This intermunicipal community carried out far more actions than most of its counterparts, with a tax integration coefficient of nearly 75% against an average of around 30% elsewhere, and the municipalities were willing to transform it into a new municipality.
