Flag of Vosges

The flag of Vosges, as hoisted on the building of the Deaprtmental Council in Épinal, is a banner of the arms of the department, designed by Robert Louis and adopted in 1946, "Per chevron couped vert and argent three fir trees eradicated counter changed a chief or on a bend gules three alerions argent".

The coat of arms of Vosges, assigned by Jacques Meurgey de Tupigny & Robert Louis in Marques symboliques des départements français, is prescribed by an Order issued on 30 January 1946 by the Préfet of Vosges. The triangular division recalls the Vosges mountains. The department's fir forests are represented by the three firs. Their evergreen aspect and winter snow-coverage are represented by the counter-colored arrangement of the trees. The chief features the arms of the province of Lorraine.

The flag of the Departmental Council (photo, photo) is white with the council's logo.

The logo is derived from the "Je vois la vie en Vosges" (J3V) mark, "impulsed" by the Departmental Council.
The blue color is prescribed as:
Pantone 299C / CMYK 86 8 0 0 / RGB 0 163 224 / Hexa #00a3e0
The gray color is prescribed as:
Pantone Cool Grey 1C / CMYK 4 2 4 8 / RGB 217 217 214 / Hexa #d9d9d6

The typeface is prescribed as Panton, whose rounded shapes recall those of the Vosges mountains and valleys.
[Graphic Charter]

The "Je vois la vie en Vosges" campaign was initiated in 2009 by an agency from Paris commissioned by the Departmental Tourism Committee. A video clip featured Grace Jones singing a local version of her own version of Édith Piaf's La vie en rose. Initially criticized, "Je vois la vie en Vosges" is now one of the best known territorial marks in France, after "J'aime Paris" and "Côte d'Azur".

The flag of the General Council of Vosges (photo, 2013; photo, May 2016) is white with the logo of the General Council.
The logo of the General Council of Vosges shows on a white background a green hexagon with a white grid superimposed and three "greener" stones, probably representing the location of the department on a schematic map of France. A blue "V", for the name of the department, is placed just below the hexagon. The whole is flanked by the writing "CONSEIL GÉNÉRAL" (top, underlined) and "des Vosges" (bottom) in blue letters.
The logo of the General Council was changed in 2013, and modified in 2015 when General Councils became Departmental Councils.
