The son of François I and Claude de
France was Dauphin and duke of
Brittany (1532-1536).
In 1532 the union of France with Brittany was definitive.
Henri, François' brother, became Dauphin in 1536 and was crowned duke of Brittany in 1537. He used François' banner, and was crowned king of France as Henri II in 1547.
