Presentation of France Biathlon Supporters

France Biathlon Supporters (FBS) was established on 29 September 2001 in La Chaux-de-Gilley (Doubs) by Milo Jeannier and Daniel Defrasne to support two local, Pontarlier-born biathletes, Florence Baverel and Vincent Defrasne; originally intended at sharing travel and housing costs, FBS soon became the fan club of the French team officially recognized by the International Biathlon Union.

Florence Baverel (b. 1974) won the gold medal in the women's sprint (her single individual win in career, but which one!) and a bronze medal in the women's relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics (Turin). Back home, she was officially named Queen of the Republic of Saugeais; beside Florence, the tiny, local sports club "Entente Saugette Sportive de Ski" won another two medals in Turin: Julien Robert and Ferréol Cannard were members of the team that won the bronze medal in the men's relay.
Vincent Defrasne (b. 1977) won the bronze medal in the men's relay at the 2002 Winter Olympics (Salt Lake City) and the gold medal in the men's pursuit and a bronze medal in the men's relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics (Turin). He served as standard-bearer for the French delegation during the opening ceremony at the 2010 Winter Olympics (Vancouver).

FBS members can be seen on all venues of national and international events (World Cup, Olympic Games); they have strong, friendly connections with their counterparts from other countries, contributing together to maintain the colorful and friendly spirit specific to winter sports: all teams are encouraged, while all kind of booing and narrow-minded nationalism is banned.

The flag of FBS (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo) is the French national flag charged in the center with the club's emblem.
A photo taken in April 2014 shows three copies of the FBS flag, slightly differing in details, and another French national flag charged in the center with a Norwegian national flag.
