The County Antrim Yacht Club at Whitehead, Antrim, N. Ireland (UK), maintains
a website at http://www.cayc.co.uk.
Highlights taken from the ‘About Us / History of the Club’ section, upper menu:
- Founded in 1902 as Whitehead Sailing Club “to encourage and promote
amateur sailing” flying a red burgee bearing a white initial “W”.
- After
building new Club House, name change to current one as many members live in
Belfast and burgee changed accordingly: blue bearing a yellow Celtic cross
(1909).
- Regattas held, prizes (cups, bowls) instituted, club life enhanced
by various purchases, etc.
- Duke of York becomes Royal Patron (1991) and
about the same time, RYA training courses start.
- Centenary festivities,
2002.
Besides sailing, members engage in rambling, snooker, cycling, and
reading. On hand is the restoration of the late 19c boathouse.
