Lloyd's Yacht Club (United Kingdom)

Estb: 1938.
Club Rules:
"21. Ensign and Burgee
(i) The Club Ensign is a red ensign of Her Majesty's Fleet defaced by the shield of the coat of arms of the Corporation of Lloyd's.
(ii) The Club Burgee is white with a blue St. George's Cross and the shield of the coat of arms of the Corporation of Lloyd's in the upper corner."

The Club Rules copyright 2017 has that as article 20, though including more rules on when it's legal to fly these two.

The current article 21 is:
"21 Officers' Flag
The Commodore's flag is the club burgee in the form of a broad pennant or swallow-tail. The Vice-Commodore's is the same as the Commodore's with the addition of a blue ball over the crest. The Rear-Commodore's flag is the same but with two blue balls over the crest."

Note that the charge on the burgee is described as "the shield of the coat of arms of the Corporation of Lloyd's." This makes it rather odd to see the officers' flags having the same charge, but the lower ranks having balls over "the crest".

Red Ensign

A defaced Red Ensign is on offer (with membership) at https://www.lloydsyachtclub.com/Merchandise. I note that in the red ensign the cartouche is white with blue lines, instead of golden lines as in the blue and white ensigns.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 3 June 2009

Note that both the burgee and ensign are only available to Lloyd's Yacht Club members and in order to have an ensign, members must have a British-registered vessel, be fully paid up, and obtain a warrant through club channels.

Burgee based on Mystic Seaport website, but the current Lloyds Yacht Club website shows the burgee without the red cross.

The burgee now in use is different (plain blue cross...), see the "merchandise' page of Lloyd's YC website: http://www.lloydsyachtclub.com/pages/merchandise.html.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 3 June 2009

Note that both the burgee and ensign are only available to Lloyd's Yacht Club members and in order to have an ensign, members must have a British-registered vessel, be fully paid up, and obtain a warrant through club channels.
